Four chilli rated

80 Lee High Road, London, SE13 5PT

Hong Van was recommended to us by someone who had seen our previous reviews, so we dutifully headed south of the river.

The stock was amazing. This was the first time that we haven't added chilli sauce to a stock. It could have been a little more fragrant but that would be being very fussy.

Good for: Awesome chilli kick and very reasonably priced.
Bad for: Not the nicest looking beef, and not really enough of it either.

Still using the stationery of the previous owners....

meemaleeHooray! I'm so chuffed that you took my advice - did they seem confused when you went in? ("Who are these people? What do they want? Oh yes, we run a restaurant")

By the way, I went to Fressen (it's near my work) just to see how bad it was - the limp watercress still haunts me ...

Darren FergusonThanks for the details! If you have any more details on places that we haven't tried yet then please let me know.

The waitress was actually pretty prompt and normal, though I love the fact that they use the stationery from the last restaurant rather than print their own.

I work next to Fressen too which was the only reason we went there... Unfortunately the Kingsland road is just too far for a quick lunch.
